I was browsing copart, curious as to what kind of p-cars end up going for auction, when I found this:
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
How does a car get titled as salvage for “Normal Wear”?
I mean granted, it’s a Panamera Turbo, so maintenance will be hugely expensive, but not so much as to declare the car a total loss...that would be kinda bad for business. I don’t see any evidence of damage in the photos, either.

This is a handy tool for Copart listings:
This car apparently hasn’t always looked so put-together.

This generally means it was crashed, fixed, and owned a while. They end up in copart when the seller ha s the normal problems of trying to sell a salvage/recon title vehicle to the open market.

According to a quick google on the VIN it had primary rear end damage with secondary front end damage so it looks like it’s been rebuilt.

I’ve bought a couple vehicles on copart. In Missouri non-dealers can’t buy salvage titled vehicles there so it limits what I can do. Including the fees though it ended up being almost what I would have paid for for it on CL and they frequently end up costing more than that if you’re not careful.

Typically the best buys on Copart are cars totaled out by an insurance company that aren’t worth much money anyway because of relatively m inor body work. Look for ones being sold by an insurance company rather than an individual ; less chance they are previously totaled cars that were hacked back together . donation cars can sometimes be good too.... samcrac on YouTube goes into a lot of detail about finding copart deals and what to look for when inspecting them.
Alao be sure to factor in all the various mandatory copart fees when bidding / buying. They charge for online bids, g ate fee to pickup, final value fee, etc. See the member fees page after creating an account.

Thanks. I could see myself getting a project car or truck via auction some day. Not a Porsche though. I was just curious to see what gets listed there.

The best auctions are the ones with Damage Type: Biohazard.
They’re all the ones that have perfectly good vehicles, except for the part where somebody got shot in the face and there are now brains all over the inside of the car.

Hey, are you in San Diego? I just came across a listing for an M3 that’s 3 years newer, has 25k fewer miles, and has the ZCP package... Might have to make a swap! Know of a good BMW/Euro i ndy shop in the area that you’d trust for a PPI?
